First Photo Shoot

On Wednesday Grandma and I took the twins to get their first professional photos taken. They were so cooperative and I think the pictures turned out so cute. I must say I was nervous about taking them in after hearing horror stories about trying to get newborn pictures taken but once again they amazed me at how good they are.

First Fathers Day

We spent Tanner's first Father's Day going to a Father's Day car show in downtown Boise. Unfortunately I didn't check the forecast and it was overcast and windy. Not great weather to be out strolling with newborns. So we left them bundled under blankets in the comfort of their carseats in their stroller, not exactly great for photos. So here are a few from later on that day.
Yes they did have adorable outfits on earlier that day but I didn't get pictures early enough and they exploded through them right after lunch so here they are in their jammies.

I can't believe how fast they are changing. They are so much more alert. This is just a quick clip of each of them after I fed them this afternoon. They were so awake I just had to show everyone how they are doing.

An exhausting week

We have had an extremely busy week going to Dr. appointments in Boise. Today both babies had to go in for their 2 week checkup. Landon finally made it back to his birth weight of 6lbs 2 oz he was 19 7/8 inches long and his head circumference was 13 1/2 inches so while he has grown some he is barely in the 10th percentile but that of course is because he was 5 weeks early and his doctor expects that he will catch up fast. Sienna grew by leaps and bounds weighing in at 5 lbs 5 oz she was 19 1/2 inches long and her head circumference was 13 inches. She is gaining quickly on her brother. They continue to sleep well and be very good natured babies. We are looking forward to spending a few quiet days at home just cuddling on the couch. Landon snoozing in his swing, poor baby had his circumcision done today but he was a tough little man. I think it was harder on me than on him.

After Grandpa got back from his trip to Arizona he couldn't wait to see the babies. He and Landon had a nice nap together.

I have the most amazing OB/GYN we are so lucky that she took such good care of us during this pregnancy. We took the babies in for my appointment to see everyone who helped us during the last 9 months and of course they were very well behaved and social.

Getting the hang of things

I can't believe the twins are 2 weeks old already. Things are going great they are on a fairly consistent schedule of eating every 3 hours they sleep well both day and night even giving us a 4 hour stretch from 11pm to 3 am. We are getting the hang of doing everything times 2 and even though it takes a lot of time we have still made it to all our Dr. appointments on time. We went on our first shopping trip with both of them with Grandma to Babies R us and out to lunch and then grocery shopping and they did great didn't cry all day just slept and woke up for feedings. They are just so easy going we are very blessed.

They finally got to wear their "Good Things Come In Twos" onesies and I forgot to get a picture until late that night as we were getting them ready for bed so they were a little cranky. Not the best picture of them but we'll try again another time.

The first night home they finally got to sleep in the same crib and it was so cute they just cuddle up next to each other. Now it seems like however we lay them down the next time we check on them they are facing each other.

Every parent of twins I think has the same fear. What do I do if they are both crying at once or both need to be changed or fed at the same time. Well I am starting to get the hang of it I am getting pretty good at feeding them both at the same time with the help of their boppy's (whata life saver). I am also getting good at rocking and burping them both at the same time. This is a picture of our first attempt at feeding at the same time.

There's no place like home

After 10 days in the NICU Landon was finally discharged home on Saturday morning. So we packed up our room (after living in the hospital for almost a month this was no simple task) and got out of there. I am so excited to sleep in my own bed I have been dreaming about it for weeks. The babies did well in their carseats and the hour drive home, sleeping most of the way, and once we got home the Grandma's came over to help out with morning feedings and diaper changes. What would we do without them. Then Tanner headed off to work and we started our day. This was the first time I had the two babies to care for at once since we didn't stay an extra day at the hospital to room in, but much to my surprise we had a wonderful day. They eat about a half hour apart, hardly ever fuss, and we have yet to have any prolonged crying fits (I'm still crossing my fingers). They have been enjoying their bouncer and swing and of course all the cuddling. We are hoping for a good first night at home and a little sleep.

After being cooped up in the hospital for a week we decided we needed to have an outing so Grandma and I took Sienna out shopping to BabiesRus and then to lunch. She was good as gold, didn't make a peep the whole time and even though she looked like she was drowning in her car seat she never complained. We definitely have a new shopping buddy:)

After a week in the NICU Landon was finally able to have a good bath. Tanner did a great job and is ready to fly solo at home (well maybe not quite yet!)

After Tanner washed his hair and he got back under the warmer he was holding on to his blankie for dear life.

Landon's favorite part was having his hair washed, he just closed his eyes and enjoyed his massage.

Landon is doing so well today, he is not requiring oxygen, is eating well with his feeding tube and will probably get to eat by mouth tomorrow, his vital signs remain stable, he will be done with his IV tomorrow, and his jaundice is getting much better. Today when I went in to hold him he was so alert and we finally got to visit :) We are so excited that he is so much better and can't wait to take him home soon.
He had his eyes wide open and was so attentive when I was talking to him as if to say "hey, I know you where have you been, I missed you" He is just so cute I love that we can finally get to hold and love on him.

Update

The twins are doing well. Sienna had her bili levels checked today and they have stabilized so for now she has avoided light therapy (yeah!) She was a champ during her lab draw barely making a peep. She is gaining weight well and was 4-10 today. She is still eating well and is more alert, we just love her little grins. Landon has made huge improvements needing much less oxygen today, keeping his respiration rate normal. He is still eating via a tube but is eating as much as Sienna now. He needs to be on antibiotics till Wednesday and then hopefully he won't need an IV anymore. He is a little jaundiced so he is undergoing light therapy which means we can't hold him as much as we would like for now but if it makes him better faster it will be worth it. We still dont' know when we will be able to go home but are hoping by this weekend.

After many months of deliberation we have finallly come up with names. Sienna Elizabeth formerly known as Baby A and Landon Cruise the former Baby B are both doing well. Sienna is eating well, sleeping well and hardly ever cries. She is getting more alert and has the cutest expressions. She is jaundiced and looking more like a pumpkin so we will be getting her labs drawn in the morning and if her levels are too high she will need some bililight therapy either at home or in the nursery. Landon is still in the NICU due to respiratory problems but is getting better by the day. Today he was able to have some breastmilk through a feeding tube and is requiring less oxygen. He is much less irritable and Tanner and I are now able to hold him anytime we want to. He will probably remain in the NICU another week to finish up his antibiotics and make sure he is able to eat without the feeding tube while maintaining his oxygen levels. I am recovering well and have been discharged tonight but will be staying at the hospital until both babies can come home. We hope to get some more pictures of them soon but Sienna has decided she is tired of getting her picture taken especially with a flash and it is difficult to get Landon's picture without overstimulating him but we'll keep trying :)

The Twins have arrived

It was decided Wednesday afternoon at a Dr's appointment that the babies needed to be delivered because my labs were getting worse. Tanner raced in from the fields and made it in time for delivery. Baby A was born at 4:26 pm and Baby B was born at 4:28 pm both via c-section. Here are some pictures from right after delivery. More to come soon.

She weighed 4 lbs 14 oz, has light brown hair and very delicate features

He weighed 6 lbs 2 oz, he has dark brown hair (lots) and is much chunkier than her

Home Sweet Home

After a week and a half in the hospital it was decided that I could be sent home if I stayed on my medicine to stop contractions, took my blood pressure regularly at home, stayed on bedrest and came right back to the hospital if anything suddenly changed. Of course I agreed because I could not wait to get home and sleep in my own bed and find a few more things for Tanner to do before the babies come home. Tanner was not nearly as excited to have me home mostly because my condition scares him but I think my honey do list is a little overwhelming after a long day at work. Sitting home all day staring at all the little things that need to be done that I can't do drives me crazy so when he gets home I have plenty for him to do. I think it has definitely made him appreciate having me do the laundry, clean the house, cook meals, go shopping, deal with the mail/bills, and all the other little things I can't do now that he gets to take on, and I'm sure he can't wait till I can take those chores back on. Thank goodness my friends and family have been helping out so much we truly appreciate them.

The Plan for now is to go to the doctor on Wednesday for another NST, labs and and u/s of the babies and to make sure my blood pressure is stable and that there are no other complications if everything is still ok we will follow up every 3 days or so. We are also planning to stop taking the medicine to stop contractions on Sunday (36 weeks) so we will see when these babies decide to make their entrance into the world. I never thought a week ago that I would still be pregnant but am so happy to get to give these babies a few more days in the womb.

Last week during our hospital stay we had another growth scan of the babies and Baby A weighs approximately 4 lbs 15 oz and Baby B weights approximately 5 lbs 10 oz. The weights are both well within the normal range so the doctors were happy. We were concerned that Baby B had not grown much from our previous scan but the doctor said it was probably because at the second u/s they used more measurements to determine the approximate weight and that as long as he was still measuring well (he's in the 75th percentile) it was ok. We can't wait to see how big they are really gonna be.
